Stockport’s Restorative Teams

Restorative Education Team & Restorative Stockport Family Team

We have two core Restorative teams within Stockport. The core restorative education team is based at Stockport’s Inclusion Service and is lead by Paul Cornall. The core Stockport Family team is based within the Workforce Development Team for Stockport Family at Stopford House, and is lead by David Christian and Sarah Baggaley.

Within both of these teams we also have a group of skilled restorative practitioners from schools, social care, health and partners within Stockport who are experienced in delivering training and facilitating restorative practice in their professional role. The team assist in delivering training, as well as championing restorative working within their own setting.

Stockport Restorative Champions Team

Our restorative champions are a group of people who have volunteered to become advocates for all things restorative and are part of the plan to develop a sustainable restorative momentum within Stockport education, social care and health services.

Our restorative champions share the responsibility of championing Restorative Practice within their roles and daily lives through a range of actions such as attending the restorative champion updates, actively promoting restorative practices in their setting by leading on the use of circles check ins at the start of team meetings and modelling the use of restorative language. They may also offer to facilitate restorative repair meetings.

We currently have two core groups of champions, one within education and one within Stockport Family & partners.

We meet with our champion & trainer groups on a termly basis, with bi-termly joint meetings where we all get together. These termly update sessions focus on building and investing in a team of restorative practitioners who, through sharing good practice between and providing opportunities to refresh and continue to develop restorative skills can act as restorative champions within their own settings.

We have a range of restorative champions already in place, from key eldership roles to support roles. The plan is to seek representatives from all sections of our community. Most people who attend have completed the 3 day RA course.
